We recently had the privilege of hearing Dr. Escalante, the Glendale’s School Superintendent, address the Glendale Board of Realtors. This is one administrator with a vision! Dr. Escalante is a dynamic and engaging communicator, who kept his audience spellbound. He described in clear, understandable terms, both verbally and in an accompanying Powerpoint presentation, what Glendale schools have been accomplishing in terms of academic improvement and awards for excellence. He also explained clearly the financial challenges facing our schools. Besides being a great communicator, Dr. Escalante is a tough and demanding leader. He is passionate about continuing improvements. He demands excellence from teachers, and he is aggressive in reducing administrative overhead costs. Did you know...
Since 2004, proficiency rates for Middle School ELA CST scores have increased from 48% to 61% in 2008 and from 57% to 63 % in Math. Middle School Social Science CST scores have increased from 42% to 56% in the same time period. Middle School Science CST scores have increased from 55% to 66% since 2006, when the tests were first administered.
